The upper rooms

Behind the scene of the ancient Holy Trinity Chapel.

Since 2006, the upper rooms above the cathedral have been opened to the public. To access the upper rooms, you can walk through the XVII cent. sacristy, that presents the original furniture or, since October 2024, you can access from the Holy Trinity Chapel. Visits are allowed only with a guide.

After a long restoration process, it is now visible the rest of the ancient fourteenth-century chapel that testifies an important part of the Dome’s medieval history.

From the south entry of the cathedral, The chapel’s entry is the same as the eighteenth-century cornu epistolae pipe organ access. For the organ, still present wooden stairs have been built.

This intervention reduced space in the north-south longitude of the church in order to build the new Holy Sacrament Chapel.
