Beginning of the eighteenth century

At the beginning of the eighteenth century, the Cathedral was completely transformed. In 1707 work began on the choir, in 1711 the presbytery was reformed and in 1714 the naves and lateral chapels were reworked, based on a design made by Domenico Rossi. In 1751, Patriarch Daniele Dolfin reconsecrated the Cathedral with the title Saint Mary of the Annunciation.

Inside the Cathedral, beginning from the main entrance, near the door there is the holy water font, or stoup, sculpted by Bernardino da Bissone in 1497. On the wall of the counter-façade (directly behind the main doors) there is an equestrian monument, erected in honor of Daniele Antonini and attributed to Girolamo Pagliaro. In the 2000s, the plaster was removed, revealing the remaining fragments of the underlying frescoes from the early 17th century.
